The old capital of Thailand is a UNESCO heritage centre

Ayutthaya
By train from the new railway terminal in Bangkok with two names "Bang Sue" and renamed by the King "Krung Thep Aphiwat", but that one didn't quite catch on. It's the largest in South East Asia . Train tickets https://12go.asia/en
Ayutthaya has wide roads and cycle lanes so I hired a bike to explore. Boats are also a good way to get round as it's an island surrounded by three rivers connecting the Andaman Sea to the South China Sea. More importantly the rivers contain King Prawns.
Temples and Ancient Ruins
There are over 400 temples.
Wat Phra Mah That
Ayutthaya fell to the Burmese in the 1700 and they decapitated all the statues of Buddha, some heads can still be seen where they fell.

Wat Phutthaisawan
Wat Ratchaburana 14th Century

Wat Phanan Choeng
19 metre high real gold Buddha
