Tomb Raiding for Beginners

The temples of Angkor are close to Siem Reap (SAI), there are no direct flights to Cambodia so Thailand Airways are a good choice as they'll handle the transfer from Bangkok (BKK).

From Siem Reap it's easy to arrange your own Tuk Tuk driver to take you out exploring for the day. You'll need a temple ticket and you can stop off at the ticket office that is on the way. A 7 day pass saves a lot of USD, they take credit cards. Guides can also be hired at the temple gates, but can get monotonous in the heat, I couldn't remember any it.

The main complex at Angkor Wat is the iconic Hindu temple below, it gets crowded at sunrise and sunset. I started my tour here at sunrise, 5am pick up. There's a real atmosphere as the returning bats catch a sip of water from the moat while the sun slowly reveals this UNESCO World Heritage site. I think this was snapped early evening,

If you're looking for Lara Croft then close by is Ta Prohm, (Royal Monastry) 1186 AD, you won't be the only one there. The famous waterfall is further away in the Kulen Mountains, a bit further out from Siem Reap. It's quite hard to get a picture without someone aiming a selfie stick at themselves. Further out you can get the real Indiana Jones experience at Banteay Srei (Citadel of the Women),
