When the National Monument appears in the Top 10 things to do you know you're in trouble. Unfortunately I must await the return of my passport while the visa extension is processed, so lets lets look at some stuff.

Markets
Night Market
The Night Market is visible from the Riverside walk at the opposite end to the Royal Palace from 17:00. It's actually very small, don't think night market Bangkok. On sale predominantly are womens clothing, the quality looked better than at the Central Market. You can just browse if you want to, there's no fierce selling. Dodgy watches etc can be bought here, but there is more choice at Central Market. They will discount a bit.
Food court looked interesting, the stalls are arranged in a square and you sit on shared mats. I was looking for gross insect meals but I didn't spot deep fried spiders etc. that are out there.
There is a Gastronmic tour of the city, I'll save that for the night before I fly back to the NHS.
