Kingdom of 1,000 Elephants

Luang Prabang

The old Capital in Northern Laos is a UNESCO heritage centre and I'm staying on a peninsula with just two parallel streets and two riverside walks along the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers.

It's sublime, so beautiful and peaceful, there are cars here but no traffic / noise. It's meticulously cleaned, every morning before the Buddhist Monks alms.

Morning Alms

Early every morning since the 14th century, rice is offered to monks all over Laos. There are about 200 monks in LP and it has become a spectacle.
