Kampot is famous for the worlds best pepper imported into Cambodia in the 13th Century. La Plantation is surrounded by lush countryside.
Brateak Krola / Secret Lake is a very beautiful place until you know what you're looking at. Originally a small lake it was dug by hand and massively expanded by forced labour under the Khmer Rouge. It acted as a reservoir in an attempt to meet the now huge demand for water to satisfy Pol Pot's unatainable rice growing demands. Thousands of people are buried in a mass grave beneath the lake.
